Fertility Massage

The Treatment
Fertility Massage combines elements of several massage and bodywork techniques including:
- Castor Oil Compress
- Massage Therapy
- Neuromuscular Therapy
- Myofascial Release
- Chi Ne Tsang
- Energy Healing
- Aromatherapy
- Reflexology
Fertility Massage is non-invasive, relaxing and enjoyable. While abdominal treatment is the focus of fertility treatment, full body stress relief and general relaxation is equally important. Stress & pain-reducing massage techniques are performed in every treatment.
A typical session may begin with myofascial release and energy bodywork to the abdomen, followed by applying a caster oil pack on the abdomen. The castor oil pack is left in place a minimum of 30 minutes. While the pack is working the therapist will perform fertility focused reflexology, massage and bodywork on the feet and body.
After 30 minutes, the castor oil pack is removed and the abdomen becomes the focus of the hands-on work. Specific techniques including massage, Neuromuscular Therapy and Chi Nei Tsang are applied to the abdomen. Following the abdominal treatment any remaining areas of the body are treated with massage and bodywork depending on the individual needs of each client.
You leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, invigorated... and accomplished!

Plan For Your Visits & Home Care
Fertility Massage should not be performed during menstruation, if you are pregnant or if
you think you may be pregnant.
To maximize effectiveness, you will want to schedule a Fertility Massage session once or twice a week for four to six weeks. Between visits you will want to use a castor oil pack for a minimum of 30 minutes and perform fertility self-massage techniques at least four times per week.
The Stress Connection
Research confirms that excess or chronic stress suppresses ovulation, sexual activity and sperm count. This is known as Stress Induced Reproductive Dysfunction.
If you are having difficulty conceiving, stress may be a significant factor, especially if no other medical factor is present. Massage is a powerful stress management tool and can be an important part of your stress reduction plan.

Research
It has long been theorized that the relaxing benefits of massage were helpful in women achieving fertility. That has now been backed up by two studies that lend credence to the theory, when using specific fertility-enhancing bodywork techniques.
The first study, published 6/18/2004 by Medscape General Medicine OB/GYN & Women’s Health, studied two groups of women. One group was seeking to become pregnant on their own; the other group was preparing to receive in vetro fertilization (IVF). Both groups had suspected or confirmed pelvic adhesions or inflammatory diseases such as endometriosis.
Both groups received targeted bodywork therapy to their abdominal and pelvic area. In the first group, of the 14 patients available for follow-up, 71% became pregnant within one year, and three of them became pregnant a second time. Of the IVF group, there was a 66% successful rate of embryo transfers, which is significantly higher than the estimated odds ratio.
The second study also produced significant results. Published in the January/February 2008 issue of Alternative Therapies, 28 infertile women who had been diagnosed with complete Fallopian tube blockages received 20 hours of manual physical therapy treatment to their abdominal area.
Within one month, they underwent medical testing to determine the status of the blockages. Seventeen of the 28 patients (61%) showed that the blockage had been released, and nine of those seventeen went on to become pregnant.
